Dhaka May 7 (bdnews24.com)—A senior two-star general has returned to the army after two short stints as head of the auxiliary force Ansars and VDP and few months without work at the foreign ministry.
Maj Gen Abdul Hafiz, of the 4th Short Service Commission, was ordered back into the army on Thursday and expected to be handed a major assignment.
Gen Hafiz, while serving as GOC at the Comilla-based Division, was posted to the Ansars and then to the foreign ministry during the caretaker government. While awaiting a diplomatic assignment, he was brought back to the Ansars again weeks after the Feb 25-26 BDR mutiny.
Brig Gen Rafiqul Islam will replace Hafiz as director general of the Ansars, the government announced Thursday.
