Dhaka, Jul 8 (bdnews24.com) — Parliament Speaker Abdul Hamid declared Gazipur-4 constituency vacant a day after the elected member of parliament of the constituency, Tanjim Ahmed, popularly known as Sohel Taj, resigned.
On Sunday, soon after parliament started proceedings of the last day of the ongoing session, the Speaker informed the House about the Gazipur-4 seat falling vacant.
"MP Tanjim Ahmed Sohel Taj of Gazipur-4 constituency submitted a letter of resignation to me in the afternoon of July 7. His constituency fell vacant after that," said Hamid.
"I have accepted his resignation as it was filed in accordance with law. Parliament is being informed about it in line with the Section 178 (3) of the House proceedings act," he added.
