State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak, speaking at a seminar at Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) auditorium on Thursday, said the government would develop 100,000 free WIFI hotspot zones across the country to make internet available to everyone.
The junior minister said the development of a digital administrative system was needed to ‘build a digital country’.
BanglaGovNet Project organised the seminar titled ‘National backbone network of Bangladesh government'.
Palak said the project would interlink around 18,000 government offices.
He hoped the connectivity would add dynamism to government functions.
Palak said: “Only technology can rein in red tape. Corruption can be eradicated through the optimum use of technologies.”
