A former army officer, who had fought for the Pakistani forces in 1971, has been arrested in Comilla on charges of war crimes.

Shahidullah, who was an army captain during the Liberation War, was detained by a team of the International Crimes Tribunal on Tuesday night from his home at the district’s Daudkandi Upazila.
Local police OC Abu Salam Mia said that a raid was conducted after the tribunal issued a warrant for him.
He has been transported to Dhaka last night, he said.
Locals said that Shahidullah fought for the Pakistani forces during the war and did not join the Bangladesh Army after independence.
