Feni, Mar 5 (BDNEWS)- More than 1,000 cases are pending there as the post of Feni district and sessions judge has been vacant for over one and a half month.
As a result, litigants fell into untold sufferings following the delay of the appointment of a new judge.
Court sources said the post fell vacant since the district, sessions judge and also the judge for the special tribunal, Shah-e-Alam Chowdhury went into LPR on January 8.
It also said Judge Shah-e-Alam during his departure handed over the responsibilities to the Additional district and sessions judge Md Didar Ali Fakir.
Meanwhile about 107 cases of the sessions judge, 93 cases of the special tribunal, 197 under the Women and children Repression Prevention Act, 8 under Public Security Act, 90 Criminal cases, 12 special cases, 284 Criminal revisions, 282 penal cases, 20 family court cases, 23 miscellaneous cases, one debt case and two other cases have now been pending.
The plaintiffs said pointing to their untold sufferings that they had nothing new than appearing before the court and returning home with a new date for appearing before the court.
Feni District Bar Association president advocate Nurul Huda Chowdhury told BDNEWS that he himself informed the Law Minister about the problem of the district and absence of the sessions judge in the court.
