Metropolitan Magistrate Mostafizur Rahman granted the fresh remand for interrogating radical blogger Farabi on Saturday.

Besides implicating Farabi in Avijit's murder , Ramna police sued Farabi in the morning under the Section 57 of the Information and Communication Technology Act for publicising extremist statements and threatening writers and journalists.

The Investigation Officer (IO) of Avijit murder case Fazlur Rahman filed the case.

The IO of the new case Sub-Inspector Ohiduzzaman presented Farabi before the court and sought a 10-day remand.

No lawyer of Farabi was present in the hearing.

Another court sent Farabi to a 10-day remand on Mar 3 in the case over the murder of writer-blogger Avijit on Feb 26.

Along with threatening Avijit for writing against religious fanaticism and superstition, Farabi had threatened to remove Avijit’s books from an online shopping portal.

He had been detained earlier, too, for trying to incite killings of bloggers following the murder of blogger Ahmed Rajib Haider in February 2013 and was out on bail from the High Court.

Farabi had enrolled in the Chittagong University to study physics but did not complete the course. He tried to join Hizb-ut Tahrir in 2010.

He had served one month in prison for violence.
