Jamaat-e-Islami nominated MP candidate Abdus Sattar has accused the Jubo Dal of attacking his election rally in Jamalpur.

At least 10 Jamaat supporters were injured in the attack at Sadar Upazila on Saturday, party leaders claimed.

Meanwhile, the Jubo Dal has alleged a counter-attack, claiming Jamaat leaders and activists had earlier hit one of their leaders.

Jamaat’s MP candidate for Jamalpur-5, district party chief Sattar, alleged that his campaign was attacked by around 30 to 35 Jubo Dal activists led by Ranagacha union's General Secretary Zakiullah Shiplu on Saturday.

In protest, local Jamaat leaders held a rally demanding punishment for the attackers.

Former Sadar Upazila Jamaat chief Shariful Islam claimed Jubo Dal ambushed them while they were campaigning for the elections.

Later, Ranagacha union Jubo Dal organised a counter-rally, calling Jamaat’s allegations “false”.

Its President Rizvi Ahmed Jewel said the clash began after Jamaat men hit a Jubo Dal leader.

Sadar Police Station chief Nur Mohammad said the situation is now under control and no complaint has yet been filed.
