A boarding bridge mishap has caused the door of a Kuwait Airways aircraft to detach, grounding the plane at Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
The incident occurred around 2:30am on Wednesday shortly after the Kuwait Airways Boeing 777-300's arrival, according to an airport official
The boarding bridge, which connects the terminal to the aircraft, is adjustable to accommodate different door heights.
After all passengers disembarked, the bridge suddenly collapsed, shearing off the aircraft's door in the process.
Only the pilot and cabin crew were on board at the time, and no injuries were reported.
The flight was set to depart for Kuwait with 284 passengers at 3:00am but remained grounded due to the incident.
“The door detached due to a misalignment with the boarding bridge, not because it was broken,” Kamrul Islam, executive director of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, told bdnews24.com
“Nonetheless, this is a serious incident, and a technical committee has been established to investigate further,” he added.
The airline has arranged hotel accommodations and meals for the affected passengers.
