Ex-minister Mohsin Ali’s widow wins Moulvibazar by-polls

Syeda Saira Mohsin has won the Moulvibazar-3 by-election unopposed.

She was the only valid candidate left in contest for the parliamentary seat, which fell vacant after her husband Syed Mohsin Ali’s death on Sep 14.

Returning Officer SM Ejaharul Haq declared Saira the winner on Monday as the nominations of the other candidates were scrapped by the Election Commission.

Nov 22 was the last date for withdrawing nomination for the by-election scheduled for Dec 8.

Saira was nominated by the Awami League to contest the seat.
