Banglalink has received a no-objection certificate from Bangladesh Bank to operate digital payment services as a Payment Service Provider (PSP).

With this approval, Banglalink subscribers will be able to conduct digital transactions, including instant money transfers, remittance services, payment of electricity and government bills, online shopping, merchant payments, as well as disbursement of salaries and allowances.

Customers will also have access to services such as savings and insurance instalment payments.

In a media statement on Wednesday, Banglalink said the approval will allow millions of customers across the country to use a wide range of digital financial services more safely, quickly and easily from their mobile devices.

The operator added that the approval is expected to pave the way for next-generation digital payment services nationwide.

Banglalink CEO Johan Buse said, “Combining Banglalink’s nationwide reach with VEON’s global expertise, we are building a secure and inclusive digital payment ecosystem for Bangladesh.”

“We believe that simple, safe and accessible financial services should be within everyone’s reach. This approval strengthens that belief.”

He added that Banglalink will continue to take initiatives centred on people’s needs, helping to ease daily life, contribute to social empowerment and advance Bangladesh towards a future-ready digital economy.
