A trader has been shot in Dhaka’s Kadamtali.

The 40-year-old man, named Aslam Khan, was shot in the right side of his face and his left hand. He is a local crockery shopkeeper.

The shooting took place at a shop called “Lucky Rice Crockery” in front of Shanir Akhra Royal Hospital around 8:30pm on Saturday.

Aslam was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in serious condition around 9pm, said Md Faruk, officer-in-charge of the hospital's police camp.

He said, "A person who was shot in the face came to Dhaka Medical College from Kadamtali. He is currently admitted to ward number 303."

Aslam’s friend Monowar Hossain, who brought him to the hospital, said that immediately after the incident, locals arrested the attacker and handed him over to the police.

However, the Kadamtali Police Station could not initially say why the attack took place.

Monowar said, "Around 8:30 pm, an unknown criminal entered the shop and opened fire on my friend indiscriminately. He was seriously injured by bullet wounds in his left hand and right side of his face."

Later, with the help of locals, he was rescued and first taken to a local hospital, then to Dhaka Medical College.

Aslam hails from Shahjahanpur village in Shariatpur’s Bhedarganj Thana. He currently lives in Palashpur Shanir Akhra of Kadamtali Police Station. According to the information of the people who brought him to the hospital, he is a crockery seller and is also involved in the real estate business.
