Mayor Ivy vows to remain with people of Narayanganj after removal

Government removes 12 city mayors, including Ivy, amid widespread administrative changes

Salina Hayat Ivy has pledged to support Narayanganj’s people hours after her removal as mayor.

On Monday, the interim government made sweeping changes by dismissing mayors from 12 city corporations and appointing administrators.

Their dismissal follows substantial restructuring after the interim government's formation.

Ivy, elected on the Awami League’s ticket, was removed as part of this broad administrative overhaul.

She told bdnews24.com on Monday afternoon, “I was elected by the people and have served the city without bias. I have always acted selflessly and bravely opposed injustice, oppression, and corruption.”

“I will continue to stand by the people of Narayanganj in the future,” she added.
