Bogra, Aug 20 (BDNEWS)- Allegations of irregularities regarding appointment into 507 posts at Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College have been raised. Authorities have yet to announce the final results of the tests though more than one month have passed.
It has been learnt that the College authorities were facing serious problem in finalising the appointments due to political lobbying. Meanwhile the Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia is scheduled to inaugurate the newly built Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital on August 31.
A concerned source said, a total of 36,000 applications were received against 507vacant posts of class 3 and 4 employees of the Hospital. The authorities had to modify its appointment list time and again as there were many applications with recommendations from the ruling party lawmakers and leaders.
It has also been alleged that large sums of money have been collected from the applicants by the dishonest quarters assuring them of appointment. It has been learnt that several physicians from outside the appointment committee were engaged for physical test of the applicants.
Refuting the allegations head of the appointment committee and Director of the College Dr Moinul Hasan Sadik told BDNEWS that appointments would be made on the basis of merit, not on the basis of recommendation. He also said the results of the tests would be published in a couple of days.
