Moosa gets two weeks to appear before customs over seizure of car
The chairman of DATCO Group, a manpower recruiting company, was questioned for about two hours at the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) in Kakrail on Sunday.
He will be slapped with two cases for money laundering and dodging tax on a luxury SUV under the Customs Act, said Moinul Khan, Director General of CIID.
The third will be started by the Anti-Corruption Commission, he said.
"We've found evidence of corruption against him. As for the case to be initiated under the ACC Act, we'll send our documents to them. They'll take it from there."
The DATCO chief arrived for interrogation surrounded by bodyguards around 3pm.
A two-member probe committee questioned him, said CIID head Moinul.
On Mar 21, customs detectives tracked down a Land Rover SUV the businessman had for private use. During a drama-filled day that began with a raid on his Gulshan home, the vehicle was found in a house in Dhanmondi.
Detectives accused the businessman of buying the vehicle using the identity of one Farukuzzaman Chowdhury of Pabna.
Moosa was asked to appear for questioning before May 7, after he sought time saying the customs letter that summoned him on Apr 20 left him "partially paralysed and without the capacity to speak".
