Channel-S MD jailed

Dhaka, Feb 17 (bdnews24.com) - Police on Saturday arrested private TV Channel-S managing director Syed Samadul Huq on charges of swindling and cheating. Later, a court sent him to the central jail.
Huq was arrested after a case was filed Thursday with Tejgaon police station by Nasir Uddin Sathi, managing director of 'My TV', a channel now on test run.
Police said they arrested Huq at about 1.30 pm from the Channel-S office in the city's Karwan Bazar.
Earlier, Nasir Uddin Sathi lodged a case with the CMM court on January 21 where he alleged that Huq had not repaid him Tk 52 lakhs that he (Huq) owed.
Meanwhile, Sathi filed another case with Tejgaon thana Thursday.
Tejgaon police produced Huq before the court seeking a seven-day remand. They court sent Huq to jail instead.
