Police have recovered illegal arms again in Raozan, acting on information obtained from a suspect arrested two days ago in Chattogram.

Detectives recovered the firearms along with cartridges following a raid in Chowdhuryrhat on Tuesday.

Raozan police also arrested three people with foreign pistols in operations in Noapara and Patiya. The arrestees are Zahir Ahmad, his son-in-law Sakibul Islam, and Md Rana.

Police said they arrested Humayun Uddin Akash on Nov 16 and recovered an LG and two rounds of cartridges from Akash’s house in Rangunia.

Akash later told interrogators about one Mohiuddin, identified with a single name, hiding a single-barrel gun in the bank of a pond in Noapara. Police recovered the firearms.

Police also recovered from a grocery shop in Noapara a pistol and two magazines containing two rounds of bullets. The owner of the grocery shop, Zahir Ahmad, disclosed information on more firearms hidden in Patiya. Police arrested Zahir’s son-in-law Sakib and his associate Rana from Patiya.

Earlier, police recovered four pistols, one revolver, a Chinese rifle looted from a police station, one shotgun, 49 rounds of Chinese rifle ammunition, 17 rounds of shotgun cartridges, and 16 rounds of 7.65-bore pistol ammunition on Nov 10 from Noapara.
