4 Bangladeshis among 32 injured in Iranian drone attack on Kuwait Airport

One of the 32 people injured in the attack has died in hospital whose nationality remains unknown

Four Bangladeshi nationals have been injured in an Iranian drone strike at Kuwait International Airport amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Local media, citing Kuwait’s health ministry, reported that 32 people were injured in Saturday’s attack, one of whom later died in hospital.

The nationality of the dead has not been disclosed.

The injured Bangladeshis are Aminul Islam of Brahmanbaria, Rakibul Islam of Pabna, Masudur Rahman of Noakhali and Dulal Mia of Cumilla.

Bangladesh’s embassy had earlier confirmed one injured citizen.

Bangladesh Ambassador to Kuwait Maj Gen Syed Tareq Hussain visited the injured at Al-Farwaniya Hospital on Sunday, embassy officials said.

A Bangladeshi project manager working at the hospital, Md Hossain, said Aminul suffered comparatively serious injuries.

He requires skin grafting for a leg wound but is currently stable.

The other three are out of danger, he added, citing doctors.

Witnesses said people rushed to shelters immediately after the strike around 6pm local time on Saturday, leading to a crush in which many were injured.

Kuwait’s Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah also visited the hospital to inquire about the condition of the injured.

According to the health ministry, the wounded were initially taken to Al-Adan Hospital’s emergency unit.

Fifteen were later transferred to Jaber Hospital for specialised treatment, while the rest remain under observation at Al-Adan.

Health ministry spokesperson Dr Abdullah Al-Sanad said patients suffered serious injuries to the chest, head and abdomen, along with multiple fractures.

Five underwent emergency surgery at Al-Adan Hospital, where one later died, the doctor said.
