Dhaka, Jan 18 (bdnews24.com): Dr C S Karim, a nuclear physicist, was sworn in as adviser to the caretaker government Thursday along with career diplomat Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Bangabhaban.
Dr Karim is a former chairman of Atomic Energy Commission and widely acclaimed by colleagues for his professional qualities.
Currently president of Bangladesh Physical Society, he has been an international nuclear inspector for the Vienna-based global watchdog, International Atomic Energy Agency.
"His knowledge of new technologies coupled with experience in government makes him an ideal choice for a cabinet position when the challenge is to pursue projects such as identity cards for voters," said a longstanding colleague.
Dr Karim, an expert on nuclear power and energy, has also served on national committees formulating energy and power policies.
Dr Chowdhury, currently permanent representative at the UN, is a favourite with diplomats attached to the world body both in New York and Geneva.
