Road repairs spell trouble
Locals said the work had begun around mid-May under the supervision of Ward No. 27 Councillor Faridur Rahman.
The street connects Indira Road near Farmgate with its neighbourhoods such as Panthapath, East Rajabazar, West Razabazar and Kalabagan.

Locals said more than half of the work was still pending, though more than a month had already passed.
Earlier, such repairs took only a week’s time, they said.
People of the locality alleged they were having difficulties finding an alternative route.
A visit to the scene on Tuesday revealed the workers had managed to lay some 50 yards of pipeline after digging the road, leaving more than half the work unfinished.
Ten labours were found digging the rest part of the street on Tuesday.

Arshad Iftekhar, who has been living in the area since his birth in 1985, said, “Though repairs took only a week to complete in previous occasions, this time it is taking much longer.”
He added, “Heavy rainfall already added to the suffering with a flow of dirty water across the area.”
He also expressed apprehension that if the present pace of work continued, it might not be over even in another two months.
