Chittagong, June 24 (BDNEWS) – Cargo ship the 'Banglar Sourav', of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation caught fire Saturday noon while it was anchored at the outer anchorage.
The port authorities said there was no report of casualties as all its 47 crews were taken to safety before the fire spread.
The authorities, however, could not ascertain the cause of the fire in the cargo-ship anchored at the Channel-C.
The members from the Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and the port authorities were fighting for putting off the fire till filing the report.
The cargo-ship 'Banglar Sourav' was sinking due to cracks developed after it caught fire.
The 14541-ton capacity cargo-ship 'Banglar Sourav' was bought in 1987.
