Dhaka, Oct 20 (bdnews24.com) — The government has named a bridge at Pirganj in Rangpur after M A Wazed Miah, the prime minister's late husband, a statement says.
The bridge, still under construction, is situated on Karotoa River at Kanchdahaghat of Pirganj near Wazed Miah's home. The construction is being supervised by the roads and highways department.
A communications ministry statement on Wednesday said the 279-metre bridge will be known as 'Wazed Miah Bridge' following a government order.
Nuclear scientist Wazed died on May 9, 2009 while undergoing treatment at a city hospital.
