Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Deputy Commissioner Masudur Rahman said that he was about 27 years of age.

“Rahman used to work for a private organisation and we came to know that he was a blogger.”

The two arrested for suspected involvement are ‘Zikrullah’, a Chittagong madrassa student, and Arif’, a student of  a madrasa at Dhaka’s Mirpur area, according to police.

The victim Oyasiqur Rahman hails from Lakhmipur’s Ramganj district and used to live at Begunbarhi area of Tejgaon.

On Feb 26, US citizen and a bioengineer by profession, Avijit Roy was hacked to death at the heart of the Dhaka University campus.

He was the founder of the blog ‘Muktamona’ (free-thinkers).

His wife and fellow blogger Rafida Ahmed Bonya was seriously injured in the attack.

Police have arrested on Farabi Shafiur Rahman, who had earlier threaten to kill Avijit in social media, over the murder, but are yet to identify the actual killers.
