MJ Akbar, national spokesperson for India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is visiting Dhaka.

The Indian High Commission, however, did not announce his visit.
The hotel Akbar has been staying in after arriving in town on Sept 1 has confirmed having him as its guest.
He was scheduled to check out on Friday, said the hotel authorities.
Akbar, during the visit, was interviewed by a private television channel. He also visited Chittagong on Wednesday.
A former journalist, Akbar joined the BJP before India’s 16th Lok Sabha election in May. He was editor at newspaper The Asian Age.
He began his career at The Times of India and later became prominent as editor of Anandabazar Group’s English political weekly - Sunday.
He was elected to Lok Sabha from Bihar after joining Indian National Congress in 1989.
