Dhaka, Apr 25 (BDNEWS) – The recently changed Dhaka-Dubai-Manchester-New York flight of Biman Bangladesh returns back its original route of Dhaka-Dubai-Brussels-New York.
Biman started to operate its New York flight via Manchester from April 8 changing its previous route in a bid to reduce loss.
Biman sources said that the New York flight would return back its previous route from April 29.
Biman authorities decided to operate the flight on the previous route as the US Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) objected to the landing of the flight in New York via Manchester.
The decision will remain in force till June 6. But Biman will neither carry any passenger nor any cargo from Brussels.
On the other hand, Biman will conduct its London flight on Dhaka-Dubai-London-Manchester route from the same day.
The national flag carrier had to incur a loss of Tk 70 lakh in every New York flight.
State minister for civil aviation Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir told journalists that they might stop the flight permanently if they don't get permission to operate New York flight via Manchester.
When contacted, Bangladesh Airlines Pilot Association (BAPA) general secretary flight captain Mahbub told BDNEWS that Biman might suspend the flight for the time being to avert losses.
"Biman might not get permission to operate flight on the route again in future, if it stops the flight permanently," he added.
The national flag carrier now operates New York flight on Saturday every week. Earlier, the flight was operated three days a week.
