Politicians, business leaders, diplomats, sportspersons and journalists on Sunday attended the Bengali New Year celebrations, organised by Bangladesh’s first internet newspaper bdnews24.com.

The participants were overwhelmed by the festivities and interacted with each other in a very homely atmosphere in the capital.
The guests were served with traditional Bengali lunch which added to the flavour of the festivities, lasting from noon to evening.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s advisor Syed Modasser Ali, Commerce Minister Ghulam Muhammed Quader, Disaster Management and Relief Minister Abul Hasan Mahamood Ali attended the festivities.
Economist MA Taslim joined the gathering with Bangladesh’s foreign friend Julian Francis, who stood by the Bengalis during the Liberation War of 1971.
The former President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), Mir Nasir Hossain, and that of the Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Anwar-Ul Alam Parvez, were present at the venue among the business leaders.
The Editor of English daily Independent, Mahbubul Alam, News Today Editor Riazuddin Ahmed and the Chief Executive Officer of private channel Maasranga Television Syed Fahim Munaim also joined the fanfare.
