The National Moon-Sighting Committee announced the date on Friday evening after the Shawwal crescent was sighted, bringing an end to the Ramadan.
Committee head Religious Affairs Minister Matior Rahman greeted the people, saying, “Eid Mubarak!” during the announcement from a meeting at the Islamic Foundation in Dhaka.
Eid on Saturday means the Ramadan this year ends with 29 days and the Eid holidays will end on Sunday.
Many villages in Bangladesh, however, celebrated the Eid on Friday in keeping with Saudi Arabia.
