Simultaneous signing of national anthem, reading out messages from President Md Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam, and discussions were the highlights of the Independence Day observance.
Bangladesh has travelled a long and difficult path since its bloody birth on Mar 26, 1971.
Bangladesh nationally observed Mar 25 as Genocide Day commemorating those killed by the Pakistani occupation forces on that night in 1971.
Bangladesh is also lobbying for international recognition of the Day.
