Bangladesh appoints Saida Muna Tasneem as high commissioner to UK

Bangladesh has appointed Saida Muna Tasneem, currently serving as its ambassador to Thailand, as the new high commissioner to the United Kingdom, according to the foreign ministry.

A career diplomat, Tasneem belongs to the BCS (foreign affairs) cadre.

She served in the Bangladesh Permanent Mission to the UN in New York and the Bangladesh High Commission in London in various capacities.

In Dhaka, she served as director general for the United Nations and External Publicity wings.

She obtained her BSc (engineering) degree from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in 1988. She also did her MSc in Public Policy and Management from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.

She is married, with three sons.

The departing Bangladesh High Commissioner in London Md Nazmul Quaunine will be transferred to Bangkok to take up her former position.
