Bangladesh ambassador to the United States Mohammad Ziauddin, as part of his regular engagement with US politicians, has met with Congress leaders Grace Meng and Kathleen Rice separately at Capitol Hill.

According to the Bangladesh embassy, during the meetings on Thursday, they discussed issues of mutual interest, including the fight against extremism, women empowerment and duty free quota free access of Bangladeshi goods to the US market.
The ambassador reiterated the government’s “zero tolerance” policy and told them that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was working “closely” with the US, neighbouring and other friendly countries to eliminate extremism and terrorism from Bangladesh and even beyond.
He highlighted the existing cooperation between Bangladesh and the US in intelligence sharing and capacity building measures to eliminate extremist elements from Bangladesh.
