Bagha Municipal Mayor Akkas Ali felicitated the MP from Rajshai-6 at a ceremony on Friday.
A local Awami League leader, preferring not to be named, questioned the presentationof the golden boat to the state minister.
Ali gave this gift to the state minister just to get an Awami League ticket to run for Bagha Upazila Chairman election, he alleged.
After receiving the gift, Alam said he did not expect such a gift and said he would give away the money to the differently-abled people after selling it.
Apart from the golden boat, he also got a golden coat pin from a ward Awami League President.
MP Abul Kalam Azad, elected unopposed from Natore-1 (Lalpur-Bagatiparha), was also greeted with a golden boat in his constituency on Friday.
