Dhaka, July 9 (bdnews24.com) -- Retired major AKM Mohiuddin Ahmed Monday filed an appeal with the High Court against conviction in the jail killing case.
The appeals section of the High Court received the appeal, sent through the authorities of Dhaka Central Jail, a senior HC official said.
Dhaka Metropolitan Session's Judge Motiur Rahman on Oct 20, 2004, sentenced him to life imprisonment for his role in the killing of four national leaders inside Dhaka Central Jail in 1975.
Mohiuddin was also sentenced to death in absentia for his role in the killing of independence leader Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
He was deported to Dhaka from Los Angeles on June 18. Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court sent him to jail, hours after his arrival.
On Nov 3, 1975, four national leaders Syed Nazrul Islam, Tajuddin Ahmed, Mansur Ali and AHM Qamruzzaman were brutally killed inside Dhaka Central Jail.
On Oct 20, 2004, Dhaka metropolitan sessions judge Motiur Rahman handed down the verdict on the case.
