The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) filed a case against Bandyopadhyay, a former BFDC managing director, and three others on Wednesday.

They have been accused of causingabout Tk 35 million in losses to the public exchequer in buying equipment for the corporation.

ACC Deputy Director Hamidul Hossain filed the case at the Tejgaon Industrial Zone Police Station, the commission’s Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told bdnews24.com.

The other accused in the case are Malaysia-based Novel Co official John Noel, local agent of the supplier Khandker Shahidul and project director Shafiqul Islam.

An ACC official, requesting anonymity, said the equipment were supposed to be bought from the US and Japan.

But they were instead purchased from China and Malaysia, causing the loss to the state.

Bandyopadhyay was appointed the BFDC managing director in 2012. His contract ended in 2014.
