Chittagong, Sept 6 (bdnews24.com)—The Anti-corruption Commission has filed nine cases with Chandgaon police against 26 officials of Chittagong Development Authority, including its chief engineer, for embezzling public money.
The graft body filed the cases against 11 engineers, five officers and 10 contractors over embezzling Tk 5.37 million allocated for the construction of a road.
The accused were chief engineer Iqbal Hossain Majumder, caretaker engineers Nur Hossain, Jasim Uddin Chowdhury, executive engineers Manjur Hasan, Ashraful Islam, AAM Habibur Rahman, assistant engineers Nurul Amin Bhuiyan, Mohammad Ilyas, Rajib Das, Mohammad Hasan, Mohammad Ilyas Akter, estimators Hamidul Haq, Osman Sikder, Rupam Kumar Chowdhury, Golam Sorwar and finance & accounting official Mohammad Nazer.
The accused contractors were Rafiqul Islam, Abdus Salam, Waheduzzaman Pintu, Shamsul Alam, Jasimuddin, Jahirul Haq, Yusuf Gani Chowdhury, Khaled Bin Alam, Mohammad Bashar and Nezam Uddin.
The ACC on Sunday filed 13 cases against nine engineers including the chief, three officers and 13 enlisted contractors for embezzling Tk 12.15 million from the same project.
