Chief of Army Staff Gen Waker-Uz-Zaman has paid a courtesy call on Muhammad Yunus, chief advisor to the interim government.

The meeting took place at the State Guest House Jamuna on Sunday, according to a statement from the Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR).

During the meeting, Waker informed Yunus about the steps taken by the army to ensure the overall security of the country during Eid, including ensuring safe services at launch terminals, train stations and bus stands, uninterrupted traffic on roads, making arrangements for reaching understandings between factory owners and workers, and various other ongoing activities.

The chief advisor was also informed about the Iftar and prayer services organised at all cantonments across the country in honour of those injured in the July Uprising, and the provision of financial assistance to the families of the injured and the martyrs at the army’s own initiative, the ISPR said.

During the meeting, the army chief extended advance Eid greetings to Yunus.

The chief advisor praised the role and professionalism of the army and gave it the necessary guidance on future activities.

Yunus said he hoped the army will continue to perform its duties with professionalism and dedication to ensure the country's sovereignty and security.

Waker had previously paid a courtesy call on the chief advisor on Mar 19.
