The interim government has directed all forces to exercise restraint and ensure the safety of residents of the three hill districts following recent violence and fatalities.

A high-level delegation will visit Khagrachhari and Rangamati on Saturday to address the ongoing situation, it said.

A statement from the Chief Advisor’s Office on Friday expressed deep sorrow over the conflict, violence, and loss of life.

It said the administration is working sincerely to resolve the issues involved.

The statement added that all law-enforcing agencies have been instructed to exercise maximum restraint and ensure the safety of all people living in the hill districts.

The government is committed to restoring peace, harmony, and solidarity in the area, it said.

The office urged against taking the law into one’s own hands and engaging in destructive acts.

“Taking the law into your own hands and destroying any property is a punishable and heinous crime. A thorough investigation into all incidents related to violence will be ensured, and a strong investigation committee will be formed soon. Relevant authorities have been directed to ensure proper treatment for the injured,” the statement said.

The high-level delegation will be led by Home Advisor Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury and will include Supradip Chakma, advisor on Chattogram hill tracts affairs, AF Hassan Ariff, local government, rural development, and cooperatives advisor, and Abdul Hafiz, special assistant to the chief advisor.
