A Mymensingh court has sentenced three people to death and three others to life in prison in 2014 for the murder of farmer Asrab Ali in Mymensingh’s Fulpur.
The death row convicts have been identified as Noor Hossain, Shahidul, and Ujjal Mia. Sohrab Ali, Swarupa Khatun, and Rehana Khatun were sentenced to life in prison.
The court also fined Noor Hossain, Shahidul, and Ujjal Tk 30,000 each, while Sohrab, Swarupa, and Rehana were fined Tk 50,000 each. Defaulting on the payment will add six months to their prison sentences.

Judge Farhana Ferdous of the Mymensingh Special Sessions Judge’s Court delivered the verdict on Monday in the presence of the accused.
Citing the case documents, state lawyer Mohammad Akram Hossain said that on Jan 18, 2014, the accused killed Asrab with makeshift weapons in a pre-planned manner.
The following day, Asrab’s son Zulhas filed a case at Fulpur Police Station accusing six suspects.
Following an investigation, testimonies from 15 witnesses, and arguments from both sides, the court convicted the six suspects.
