Currently, 2,706 dengue patients are hospitalised nationwide

This year’s highest dengue admissions have been reported, with 887 people hospitalised in a single day, and three deaths.
The Directorate General of Health Services, or DGHS, previously reported 872 admissions in one day due to the Aedes mosquito-borne disease.
So far in 2024, 21,966 dengue patients have been admitted and 122 of them died.
In the last 24 hours up to Thursday morning, 345 new dengue cases were admitted in Dhaka city.
As many as 160 have been admitted in Dhaka Division, 36 in Mymensingh, 149 in Chattogram, 96 in Khulna, 14 in Rajshahi, 39 in Rangpur, and 49 in Barishal.
Currently, 2,706 dengue patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country, with 1,495 in Dhaka and 1,211 outside the capital.
Earlier this year, 1,055 dengue patients were admitted in January, with 14 deaths. In February, there were 339 admissions and three deaths, and in March, 311 cases with five deaths.
April saw 504 cases and three deaths, while May had 644 cases and 11 deaths. In June, 798 people were infected, with eight deaths.
In July, 2,669 people were hospitalised and 13 died, while August saw 6,521 cases with 29 deaths. By Sept 19, 9,125 people had contracted dengue, leading to 36 deaths.
Since 2000, the DGHS has tracked dengue hospitalisations and deaths. In 2023, a total of 321,017 people were admitted with the disease, and 1,705 people died, the highest on record.
