A housewife has been shot through a window while watching television at a house in the Darussalam area of Dhaka.
The woman, identified as 38-year-old Jasmine Begum, is currently undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The incident took place around 8:30pm on Saturday in the Matbarbari Mosque Goli area under Darussalam Thana, said Inspector Md Faruk, officer-in-charge of the hospital's police camp.
He said, "The woman is undergoing treatment at the hospital's emergency department with a gunshot wound to her right hand."
Police say Jasmine was watching TV with the window open when someone shot through the window and fled.
Jasmine's son Yasin said, "The bullet hit my mother's right hand, and she fell to the ground with serious injuries. Later, after hearing of the incident, I first took my mother from home to Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital.
"After receiving first aid there, I took her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 11pm for advanced treatment."
Jasmine hails from Uttar Dalla village in Brahmanbaria Nabinagar. She currently lives on the ground floor of a tin shed house in the Matbarbari Mosque Goli area. Her husband's name is Abdul Mannan.
