Flight operations have resumed at Shahjalal International Airport after a nearly seven-hour suspension amid violence in parts of Dhaka centring Sheikh Hasina's resignation as prime minister.
Some flights delayed during the closure are now departing.
Pranto Islam, a customer care representative confirmed this to bdnews24.com at 12:15pm on Tuesday.
He said, “At the moment, all airport operations are normal.”
However, he noted that some flights that were held up have been delayed.
Kamrul Islam, general manager of Public Relations Wing at private airline US-Bangla, said their delayed flights began resuming operations after 11pm.
Earlier, around 5pm on Monday, the airport’s Executive Director Group Captain Muhammad Kamrul Islam announced the suspension of airport activities.
This was later confirmed in a six-hour closure notice issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations, or ISPR.
