The Anti-Corruption Commission, or ACC, has summoned former Dhaka South City Corporation mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh to question him over allegations of corruption and assets beyond means.
Taposh is to appear at its Segunbagicha office at 11am on Nov 3.
ACC spokesperson Akhtarul Islam said a notice was issued on Thursday by Deputy Director Md Monirul Islam, who leads a three-member team investigating the allegations.
The ACC has accused Taposh of "amassing wealth worth millions of taka through irregularities and corruption."
The notice said, "In the interest of a fair investigation, it is necessary to hear and record your statement regarding the allegations mentioned."
It added, "If you fail to appear at the specified time, it will be assumed that you have no statement to offer on the matter."
Taposh, the nephew of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, has not been seen in public since the fall of the Awami League government following the mass protests on Aug 5. There is speculation that he had left the country earlier.
Taposh is also named as an accused in several cases related to violence and deaths during the student-led movement.
