Govt renames 6 medical colleges, dropping names of Bangabandhu, Hasina

The medical colleges were named after Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Sheikh Hasina and other Awami League leaders

Six medical colleges across Bangladesh, including Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College in Faridpur and Sheikh Hasina Medical College in Jamalpur, have been renamed after their respective districts.

The Medical Education and Family Welfare Division issued a notice to this effect on Tuesday.

According to the notice, the Sheikh Hasina Medical College in Jamalpur, Sheikh Hasina Medical College in Tangail, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College in Faridpur, Col Malek Medical College in Manikganj, Abdul Malek Ukil Medical College in Noakhali, and M Abdur Rahim Medical College in Dinajpur have been renamed.

These will now be called Jamalpur Medical College, Tangail Medical College, Faridpur Medical College, Manikganj Medical College, Noakhali Medical College, and Dinajpur Medical College, respectively
