In an effort to bolster security during the extended Eid-ul-Fitr holiday, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued a series of directives aimed at safeguarding homes, offices, shopping malls, and other important institutions across the capital.
Among the 14-point guidelines issued by the DMP’s public relations department on Wednesday are recommendations to install CCTV cameras and secure valuables in bank lockers or with trusted individuals.
The announcement comes as government employees prepare for a six-day holiday, spanning from Mar 28 to Apr 2, as per an executive order.
With many residents expected to leave the capital for celebrations in their hometowns, the DMP has enlisted an “auxiliary force” composed of private security personnel from residential areas and shopping centres.
This contingent, currently comprising 419 individuals, will support police efforts throughout the holiday period.
THE DIRECTIVES ARE:
Reporting unpleasant or suspicious incidents during Eid to the nearest police station.
For emergency assistance, residents have been encouraged to contact the DMP Control Room at 01320037845, 01320037846, 223381188, 0247119988, or 029619999.
Police services can also be reached through the national emergency hotline, 999.
