Protesters blocking the streets outside the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedic Rehabilitation, or NITOR, have vowed to press ahead with their demonstration until at least four government advisors arrive.
Even at 1am on Thursday, the injured from the mass uprising refused to return to the hospital and remained firmly positioned on the Shyamoli-Agargaon road.
The protesters are demanding urgent medical treatment and rehabilitation.
Both police and military personnel have been deployed to the area.
Earlier, around 12:30am, the Anti-discrimination student movement Coordinator Hasnat Abdullah tried to persuade the demonstrators to clear the road but was unable to convince them to leave."
The protesters are calling for the presence of ICT Advisor Nahid Islam and Youth and Sports Advisor Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain, Health Advisor Nurjahan Begum and Social Welfare Advisor Sharmeen S Murshid.
Hasnat told the protesters that Asif and Nahid were not in Dhaka at the moment and it would not be possible to meet everyone before 2pm on Thursday.
He proposed that they meet the Chief Advisor's Special Assistant Sayedur Rahman instead.
However, the protesters made it clear that they would only meet the four specified advisors and were prepared to remain on the streets until Thursday afternoon if necessary.
