The Ministry of Housing and Public Works has suspended Sub-Assistant Engineer Liton Mollik following verified allegations of absence from work without permission and accepting money from multiple people under the pretext of providing jobs.

A media statement from the ministry mentioned Liton had been absent from work without permission from the Khagrachhari PWD E/M Sub-Division since Aug 5, 2024.

Additionally, he had been temporarily suspended since Mar 4, 2025, as per the Government Service Act 2018, following allegations of accepting money in exchange for jobs and an imprisonment order by the Khulna joint metropolitan sessions judge, 1st Court, in a cheque dishonour case.

The statement also said as the allegations of misconduct against Liton were proven, he has been dismissed from service effective Sept 18, 2025, following due process, the advice of the Public Service Commission, and an order signed by the Ministry of Housing and Public Works Secretary Md Nazrul Islam and approved by the president.
