The administration urges residents to seek safe shelter during thunderstorms

At least four people have died in separate incidents of lightning strikes in Sylhet’s Jaintiapur and Kanaighat.
The incidents occurred on Saturday afternoon, with two fatalities reported in Jaintiapur Union and two more in separate locations in Kanaighat, according to local police and administration.
The dead from Jaintiapur Union have been identified as Nahid Ahmed, 13, and Abdul Mannan Monoi, 45.
In Kanaighat, the victims were Kala Mia, 28, and Noor Uddin, 60.
Jaintiapur Upazila chief executive, or UNO, Umme Salik Rumya said efforts are under way to collect information for providing support to the families of the two victims from Jaintiapur.
She also urged residents to take extra precautions and seek shelter during thunderstorms for safety.
Kanaighat Police Station chief Jahangir Hossain Sardar confirmed the two deaths in Kanaighat on the same afternoon.
