Police have arrested 23 people on suspicion of militancy during a “secret meeting” at Tejgaon College in Dhaka’s Farmgate.
A senior police officer of the Tejgaon Division confirmed this information to bdnews24.com around 4:15pm on Friday.
They said, "Twenty-three people have been arrested from Tejgaon College during a secret meeting. We suspect they are involved in militant activities. Officials from the relevant ATU (Anti-Terrorism Unit) and CTTC (Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime) units have come. They are sorting out the matter. Details can be released officially at a later time."
They added, "They were arrested based on intelligence. Their case is being investigated."
The detainees are currently in the custody of law enforcers from Tejgaon Police Station. Officials at the police station say that the CTTC chief is on his way there.
