ICT Advisor Nahid Islam has said India will have to take responsibilty for any political activity pursued by deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina while she remains in that country.
“India gave shelter to Hasina, and they have some sort of explanation for this,” he said at a programme on the occasion of unveiling the cover of a book titled- “Sangbadpatra-e July Obhyutthan”, or July Uprising in Newspaper, at poet Shamsur Rahman auditorium of Bangla Academy on Wednesday, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, or BSS, reports.
The advisor continued, “We asked India to return Sheikh Hasina to Bangladesh and that is a diplomatic issue.
“But if she tries to do politics from there, if she holds political meetings in India, then the Indian government will be liable for this.”
On the same night, Awami League chief Hasina addressed an online event at 9pm.
Her planned speech had been announced earlier.
Hasnat Abdullah, convener of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement, wrote in a Facebook post: “Allowing Hasina to deliver a speech is an act of war by India against the anti-fascist people of Bangladesh.”
Nahid also spoke on the issue during the Bangla Academy event.
“We will be on the streets to respond to any possible anarchy in the month of February and March," he announced.
“We will continue our resistance. We are always ready as attempts are on-going to make people worry and destroy our unity,” he concluded.
