Narayanganj SP Anisur, husband of AL MP Fatema, being withdrawn on opposition complaint

The Election Commission has asked the government to withdraw Narayanganj Superintendent of Police Anisur Rahman following a complaint filed by the BNP-led 20-Party Alliance.

The commission sent the orders on assigning a new SP in the district to the Public Security Division on Wednesday, EC Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed told bdneews24.com. 

Anisur’s wife Fatema Tuzzahura is an Awami League MP from a seat reserved for women.

The BNP-led alliance on Sunday lodged the complaint claiming that it would not be possible for Anisur to work without bias during the polls as his wife is a ruling party MP. 

Earlier, the EC had ordered withdrawal of the OCs of Lohajang Police Station in Munshiganj and Mithapukur Police Station in Rangpur.
