New Delhi, June 22, (BDNEWS)- BJP leader Sunder Singh Bhandari died today in New Delhi following a heart attack, according to Wire services.
Bhandari was the former governor of Gujarat and Bihar.
He had held several posts within the BJP including a stint as the party's vice president, general secretary and spokesperson.
Bhandari, a RSS 'pracharak', was the Governor of Gujarat at the time of the post-Godhra violence in March 2002.
Recently, Bhandari had said there had been a delay by the Gujarat government in taking action against the violence.
Several BJP leaders have reached Bhandari's residence to pay their last respects.
BJP president L K Advani, who was to go to Vaishno Devi today, has cancelled his visit to the shrine.
