People from other areas are also crowding Burhirbandh at Sadar Upazila to see the glorious peak north of the district.
Besides Burhirbandh, the mountain can also be viewed from the town's Chourasta, bus-stand, Tangon Barrage, Baliadangi Upazila and several other areas, locals said
The mountain at India-Nepal border of Sikkim can be seen from these areas from mid-October to late November every year, they said.
"It can be seen well until 10am and then the view fades. It becomes clear again when the sunshine falls diagonally in the afternoon," he added.
Didarul Haque, who resides in the town, said he saw the peak from the roof of a seven-storey building at 6:10am on Monday.
"The peak was blazing in light sunshine. It became red as time passed by," he said.
Md Khokon Islam travelled to Thakurgaon from capital Dhaka to see Kanchanjangha.
"I saw photos of Kanchanjangha on Facebook several days ago. I had known that the view is available only from Tentulia in Panchagarh. Now I am seeing it from Thakurgaon," he said.
Thakurgaon Deputy Commissioner Md Abdul Awal said he also enjoyed the view of Kanchanjangha after being transferred to the district.
